The teaching and discussion will be centered on the book, The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis, and led by local C.S. Lewis scholar, Dustin Adams.
Lewis wrote with a perspective from a life of profound suffering: the childhood loss of his mother and distance of his father, his own front-line trench warfare experiences in World War 1, rejection by his academic colleagues, and the all-too-early death of his wife, Joy. From the introductory chapter: "...pain would be no problem unless, side by side with our daily experience of this painful world, we had received what we think a good assurance that ultimate reality is righteous and loving."
